Rama’ or ‘Ram’ or ‘Ramchandra’ is considered both as a human mortal who was born in Ayodhya and eventually sat on the throne of Ayodhya, and also as an Avatar of Vishnu in the ‘Treta yugo’. Be that as it may this central character in the epic Ramayana write by Rishi Valmiki is revered honoured and worshiped by millions of devoted Hindus all over India and even outside, as a living god and his seat at Ayodhy a supremely holy shrine. Ramachandra, was also a holy concept of Mahatma Gandhi who redeemed the down trodden from their misery. All his prayer meetings of Mahatma Gandhi, preceded by the famous Bhajan “Raghupati Raghaba Rajaram, Patitpabana Sitaram” On the other hand those who claim themselves to be rational human being regards Ramachandra as a mythological tragic hero in the epic ‘Ramayana’. Now rightly or wrongly a big political storm is going around this controversial character in this country. However we may leave this controversy here and now move on.
- The annual Brahmo Conference is going to be held this year at Brahmo Sammilan Samaj precincts. This annual event where many Brahmos and liberal minds meet every year to renew their spirit of friendship and to exchange current progressive ideas and trends in the realm of spiritualism, religiosity and allied fields, their progress or regressions. The inauguration of the conference is fixed on 23rd November. The participants and delegates will also be visiting the Sadharan Brahmo Samaj and Mandir on this occasion. Our warm welcome to the guests
- We hear not too distinct bells heralding the advance of the ‘Maghotsava’ next January to be celebrated at Sadharan Brahmo Samaj. This will be followed by ‘utsava’ in other Samaj near and far around. Now we prepare our mind, heart and spirit to be ready for welcoming this annual ceremony to end our year long wait.
- Parallel to the celebration of ‘Maghotsava’ the officials of the Executive committee become engaged in the process of the election of office-bearers of the new executive committee for the year 2018-19, formation of new General Committee and holding Annual General Meeting. This tradition had been set by the pioneers of the Sadharan Brahmo Samaj like L/ Ananda Mohan Bose, L/ Acharya Shivnath Shastri, L/ Shib Chandra Deb and others. With their deep farsightedness they set a fully democratic tradition for the formation of a new body every year. This elected body which draws new blood with blending it with the veterans, has kept the democratic flag of the Sadharan Brahmo Samaj flying for years together. May this process continue to keep the head of the Sadharan Brahmo Samaj high for g eneration to come. We pray for the blessings of parameswara for keeping the spiritual and democratic flag of the Samaj flying.
“Om Brahama Kripahi Kebalam”.
