“BARSHOSESH” & “BARSHOBORON” at SADHARAN BRAHMO SAMAJ

Special musical programme was arranged on the occasion of “Borshosesh 1424” at Sadharan Brahmo Samaj. On 14th April, 2018 the programme started after a brief prayer offered by Smt. Sunanda Chatterjee. Smt. Chatterjee, through her prayer conveyed the message that the year which has passed also left many good and bad events and we should learn lessons from these events. The musical programme was conducted by Sri Jyoti Shankar Banerjee along with following members: Manisha Singha, Ananya Chakraborty, Sudipta Debroy, Sonali Datta, Sonali De, Tanusree Choudhuri, Sucharita Datta, Arnab Roy, Prasad Basu, Sujata Banerjee, Prasad Basu, Chandan Roy and Shyamal Neogy.
Barsho Boron
“Barsho Boron” 1425 was celebrated on 15th April morning at Samaj Mandir. Debasis Roy Chowdhury was the Minister and conducted Devine service. He spoke about present unrest among the society in the name of religion and call for unity of all human being irrespective of their cast creed or religion which is the very essence of Brahmo religion. 12 melodious hymns were sung by Rohini Roychowdhury. Programme was well acclaimed by everyone. Light refreshment was arranged for all on this occasion.
Medical Camp at Sarala Punyasram
On 22nd April, 2018 from 10 am a health check-up camp was organised by the Medical Aid sub-committee at “Sarala Punyasram” premises with the help of Bharatbarshiya Brahma Mandir Congregation. The camp started after a brief prayer offered by Sri Tapabrata Brahmachari. General health and eye health check-up including eye power testing services were provided to 70 patients, mostly local residents. The members of the medical team were Dr. Santiranjan Bagchi, Dr. Ketaki Bagchi, Dr. Shantoshil Pain, Dr. Samhita Nag, Dr. Shreya Gayen, Dr. Suvojyoti Pal, Smita Jha (optometrist), Akash Maity (optometrist) and the volunteers were Shrobona Bagchi, Snigdha Pain, Sandhya Deb, Salil Hazra, Tapabrata Brahmachari, Amit Das, Tridip Sarkar, Biswajit Roy and 2 staffs of Sarala Punyashram. Lunch was organised for the medical team and volunteers. Prescribed medicines were distributed free of cost at a later date.
175th birth anniversary of Dwarakanath Ganguly
On 29th April, 2018 a lecture meeting was organised to celebrate 175th birth anniversary of Dwarakanath Ganguly. Before commencement of the lecture meeting, the Sunday service was conducted by Sri Asis Pain and hymns were sung by Sri Kaushik De. It was also the birthday of Gautam Buddha and Sri Asis Pain narrated the life and teachings of Buddha during the Sunday service.
Sri Asis Pain was presided the lecture meeting other speakers were Prof. Goutam Neogy, Sri Rabi Ranjan Sen and Sri Rajib Ganguly. A book was released which is on compilation of articles on women from “Abalabandhab”, one of the greatest works of Dwarakanath Ganguly. In the lecture meeting Prof. Neogy spoke on various talents and social works of Dwarakanath Ganguly. Sri Robi Ranjan Sen informed the leadership role and risks taken by Dwarakanath Ganguly to expose the tea labour issue. Sri Rajib Ganguly, great grandson of Dwarakanath Ganguly informed various unknown facts on Dwarakanath collected from family sources. Sri Arnab Nag compiler of the newly released book spoke on the background of publishing the book.

Udayan Ghosh, son of Late Usha Ranjan Ghosh and Late Nilima Ghosh and husband of Smt. Kalpita Ghosh and father of Smt. Indrani Das Gupta breathed his last on 03-01-2018 at Nightingale Nursing home, Kolkata.
The Adya Sradhya ceremony was held at Bharat Barshiya Brahma Mandir on Sunday, 14-01-2018 at 10.30 am. Acharya Arghya Brahmachari conducted the Divine Service and hymns were sung by Sri Samir Das, Sri Nilimesh Roy and others. Life sketches were read by only daughter Smt. Indrani Das Gupta and granddaughter Miss Srotoswini Das Gupta. Sri Sanjay Das Gupta and Sri Parag Rakshit discussed about his memorial life. On this occasion his wife Smt. Kalpita Ghosh donated Rs. 30,000/- to Bharat Barshiya Brahma Mandir.
